[Viennese fashion plates]. 1816-1824.

Bound collection of ca. 280 hand colored, etched fashion plates from, or published by Wiener Moden Zeitung (later Wiener Zeitschrift für Kunst, Literatur, Theater und Mode). The plates primarily depict women's fashions and are numbered and dated, but not bound sequentially. They were engraved by Franz Xaver Stöber, Johann Blaschke, or an engraver identified as "K" after designs by Philipp von Stubenrauch (however, the source of the original art is not always identified). A few plates bear illegible single-word inscriptions. They are bound in 19th century marbled paper over boards; p.2 of cover Inscribed: Hett [illegible] 23 Febr. 1824.
